How to practice yoga
This article explains the key points to consider when practicing yoga.
Important Yoga Tips
To enhance the benefits of yoga, keep the following tips in mind:
- Don't focus excessively on achieving flexibility.
- Always focus on your bodily sensations.
- Maintain deep, steady breathing throughout your practice.
Basic Flow of a Yoga Pose
When performing yoga poses, follow this basic flow for optimal results:
- Move slowly and mindfully when entering and exiting a pose.
- When holding a pose, stop just before it becomes painful. Aim for a sensation of a "comfortable stretch" or what some call "pleasant discomfort", rather than sharp pain.
- Remain still and hold the pose for as long as is comfortable, maintaining your breath.
- After each pose, take time to relax in a resting pose, such as Corpse Pose.
Choosing Poses
Choose a few poses that interest you and give them a try.
It's recommended to select poses that target different parts of the body to engage various muscle groups.
