- It combines postures (asanas) and breathing techniques (pranayama) to balance the mind and body.
- It's a good choice for those who prefer a gentle practice.
(2) Ashtanga Yoga
- It was developed in India in the 1930s by Pattabhi Jois, who systematized traditional yoga with his own interpretations.
- It's a physically demanding practice that involves performing a set sequence of postures in a flowing manner.
- It improves strength, stamina, and focus.
(3) Vinyasa Yoga
- It's a style that emerged in the United States in the late 20th century.
- It incorporates elements of Ashtanga Yoga while emphasizing creative sequencing of poses.
- It focuses on flowing movements synchronized with the breath.
(4) Power Yoga
- It was developed in the United States in the 1990s by Beryl Bender Birch and Bryan Kest.
- It evolved from Ashtanga Yoga by incorporating fitness elements.
- It combines strength training with traditional yoga poses.
(5) Yin Yoga
- It was developed in the United States in the 1970s by Paul Grilley, who incorporated Taoist principles into elements of Hatha Yoga.
- It requires holding each pose for several minutes, deeply stretching not only muscles but also connective tissues like joints and ligaments.
- It has a profound relaxing effect and balances the mind and body.
(6) Restorative Yoga
- It was developed in the United States in the 1970s by Judith Lasater.
- It was originally designed for therapeutic purposes and is now practiced for a wide range of goals, including stress reduction.
